A 5th Grader's Insight into the Holy Trinity
John 10:27-30:
My sheep hear my voice: and I know them, and they follow me. And I give them life everlasting; and they shall not perish for ever, and no man shall pluck them out of my hand. That which my Father hath given me, is greater than all: and no one can snatch them out of the hand of my Father. I and the Father are one.

We often talk about the Holy Trinity – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And, often, by doing so, we can sometimes gloss over the concept that the Holy Trinity is a formula of “Three in One”. While Jesus stresses this over and over again in the Gospels, many of us still like to separate the Three out into Their Individual Parts. While They are most definitely three (3) Distinct Entities, They are all One. A 5th grade boy in our Sunday School class once described to the class that the Holy Trinity was like water. Confused by his assessment, we asked him to elaborate. He then shared that water can be found as liquid, vapor, and ice, but, at the end of the day it’s all still water. Talk about “from the mouths of babes” (Psalms 8:3)!? Jesus shares in John 10 that not only are He, the Father, and the Holy Spirit All “One”, but that all Believers who and follow Him are also now a part of that “One”; meaning that Believers are Saved through Grace and will have Life Everlasting, never perish, and cannot be “plucked” or “snatched” out of His or His Father’s Hands. So, if we’re feeling a little down on ourselves along the journey of life, we must be sure to remember to stand firm in Him and His Everlasting Promise to all who Believe. For as long as we continue to love the “Eternal One” and each other with all of our hearts, minds, and Souls, we can never be separated from the Love of the Father!
